Getting a certified copy of a certificate of birth is very easy to do. With a small fee in hand, you can go to the city clerk in the city you were born in and get it there. Because this document is very important to have when you are looking to get a passport, you will have to get it if you do not already have it in your possession.

Sometimes, getting married or changing your name during the course of your life can cause a discrepancy in name on your birth certificate compared to your current identification. You will have to show how the names were changed. This can be done easily by producing a certificate that shows the birth name with the newly changed name.

Photo ID

In addition to these things, you will need to show some sort of picture identification. Most times a valid license to drive a vehicle in your state is enough. As long as it has your picture, date of birth, and current address on it, you should have no problem with using it.

Passport Photo

You will need to go out and get pictures that will go into the passport itself. These need to be done by someone who knows the requirements for this type of photography. They need to be a certain dimension and also need to have a white background. You cannot wear hats or have anything covering your face for these pictures.

Application Forms

You must be completely honest when you start filling out the applications. You can be denied the proper travel documents if you are found to be untruthful on any part of the form. It is very easy to complete this form once you have everything you need to prove your citizenship.

There is a fee that you have to pay in order to complete the new passport application process. The amount you must pay is listed on the front page of the forms.
