How To Cope With Loneliness; Experiencing A Lifetime Of Freedom in Just Ten Days!

“Loneliness is the most terrible poverty” - mother Teresa

There is not one person in the world who hasn’t known first hand the hurt of being alone or wanted to know how to cope with loneliness to some degree or another. Loneliness is a condition, that no one is removed. You can be wealthy or completely broke, young or elderly, being alone can invade your very being and cause indescribable heartache and suffering. World famous performer, singer, and songwriter Michael Jackson knew that all too well throughout the course of much of his life.

“People think they know me, but they don’t. Not really. Actually, I am one of the loneliest people on this earth. I cry sometimes because it hurts. It does. To be honest, I guess you could say that it hurts to be me.” To read more...

Like thousands and thousands of individuals throughout the world, Michael Jackson never figured out how to cope with loneliness, though it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

When questioned how they cope with being alone, the following is how some people answered;

“Go to the store for groceries.”
“I make hand puppets and then talk to them.”
“Go for a run, hiking, shopping, to a sporting event or go visit the park.”
“Being around others and doing something you’re interested in can take your mind off being lonely.”
“Don’t dwell on it. discover a hobby, see a movie, watch the news…”
“Just live with it.”
buy a cat.”
“Get involved in something productive.”
“Learn to play an instrument and ignore the world.”

Do you see a theme how people react? They may reduce the hurt of being alone for a while, but in a short period of time, it will return, in all likelihood more intense than before. Sadly, “Coping” with being alone is exactly what people think is their only alternative but being alone is not God’s intention for us when your Heavenly father put us on this earth.

“Loneliness is the first thing which God saw that was not good.” - John Milton

Why is that? Because we were created for relationships and removed from the context of relationships, our existence loses its meaning in life. God wired within our very being an innate desire to know and be known by others, starting with Himself. It is within a relationship with Him, through His son, that we can satisfy our greatest desire to be known by others and loved for who we are. Once we know that type of love, we are free to love individuals as we are loved by our Heavenly father.

A way that God’s love gives us freedom to love others, is it deals with our selfishness within ourselves. Selfishness is one of the greatest obstacles to having authentic relationships. When we want a relationship based on what is in it for us, that relationship will shortly dissolve once we’ve taken all we can and we don’t desire what they have to offer. More than likely, you’ve experienced being on the wrong end of a relationship with a person like that before and you know how frustrating that can be. Yet, if you were to be completely honest, you’ve been one of those friends once or twice yourself.

I Corinthians 13:4-8 tells how God loves us. When we love others the way He loves us, there will always be people to love. God’s love and loving someone else is the best cure for loneliness there is. You will never have to settle for coping with loneliness ever again.
