How To Create Successful Yahoo! PPC Campaigns

Yahoo! Search marketing is trailing behind Google AdWords program, we are all aware about that. However, let's make that our main reason for giving it a try- not so stiff competition, lesser bid costs and a bigger conversion. Online marketers/advertisers who want to test out new markets and introduce their products are slowly turning Yahoo! PPC into their new hotspot because of its affordability. What should we keep in mind while working with Yahoo! PPC?

A long time ago Google decided that you cannot use direct linking with Adwords. But you can easily use affiliate links in your ads when advertising on Yahoo!, where you directly link to the merchant's main website. This is great for many reasons, not the least of which you can save time with campaign creation. You can easily use this feature to test out new affiliate offers before putting in the effort to create your own landing page. But this is really nothing new as far as using PPC ads, and this is a long-time practice at Yahoo. You can use landing pages at Google, but they really need to be more like websites rather than a basic squeeze page. Minimal time from concept to execution is what this is all about with Yahoo.

Take Advantage of Bid Gaps: If you notice the ads for large advertisers on Yahoo! you'll see these advertisers tossing money nonchalantly, without minding the targeted keywords. Now, as a smart, thinking advertiser, this creates a strong opportunity for you to save money. When bidding, you should not set the bids as per category, rather, go for keyword by keyword basis.

If you monitor your bids efficiently, you'll go far, because you'll be using your investment more wisely, as opposed to simply using random keywords that you like, which in turn would go to waste.

Make Use of Excluded Keywords: This is pretty much like the negative keyword feature on Google AdWords. If your search contains an excluded keyword, your advance match ad will not be shown in the search results. Contemplate on what keywords to list under excluded items, and keep adding them to your list as you progress so you will not lose track of where you're at. As your list of excluded keywords gets filled, you'll realize how much money you have saved by not getting any unqualified clicks. Besides this, you'll bring down the chances of having your keyword removed for a low click index scores. Take for example, you're selling an eBook on "Email marketing", it's advisable that you exclude the keywords such as free, discount, cheap, etc. There are a lot of strategies to optimize your campaigns to get to an optimal level of effectiveness, and this is one of them. While there is more freedom at Yahoo, your mileage will vary, and you have to get it right in order to be successful.
